hello,

I got recently a 5 in 1 notebook Post card and when I used the Pci-express card to debug Laptops Toshiba L300- hp620- hp6720s- platform Inventec, it showed malfunction (Displayed incomplete characters).

When checking the Card closely I noticed on it's reverse side tracks of an IC marked U4, But chip does not exist. Also, there are traces of a desoldered cap marked C9.

I googled for 5 in 1 notebook debug card images and found some with 3 chips on the reverse side, others with 2 chips, but none with 1 chip.

Could you p.s confirm that the U4 chip and the C9 cap are required for a proper functioning of this 5-in-1 Notebook Debug Card, as I intend to make a claim for the malfunction of the Card.

Your review should be well appreciated.

I don't see how to attach an image of the card.

P.S find attached photo of the 5 in 1 debug card I recently bought. The components
probably missing are surrounded by a red rectangular.

Do you share my opinion?

This depends on the manufacturer.
Maybe it reserve space for the installation of components, which in this case is not used.

As a feed back, supplier, recognized after mails exchange with photo attachements, that the cap, is missing, but he confirmed that new cards no longer contain the IC I claimed, and they are checked ok.

He proposed either a replacement or I try to reflow display segments, fix a new cap of 100nf, and see good working of the card. If i'm statisfied, he will reimburse 20Euros as for my repair work. Not bad solution, I agreed to !

Last feed back, resoldering a new 100nf cap and reworking every pin of display segments didn't solve the incomplete characters display. Supplier decided then to send me a new debug card.
